Arm manipulation — Robotics experience — Part 01

Hello, my friend and readers. Today I’m starting a new challenge for me in Robot manipulation based on stepper motors. I didn’t make the robot arm early, this is my first experience for it.

When I started this challenge I got a few issues:

  • Create new 3d models and write own code?
  • or use an open-source license?

I tried many days for R&D. It was youtube videos, Git repositories, online Forums, and engineering blogs. I observed and analyze maximum information for this specific environment.

I choose this project — https://github.com/SkyentificGit/SmallRobotArm . Very thanks @Skyentific, his youtube channel this guy is creating amazing robot arm. In his channel has very detail instructions and demonstrations robots.

Priority for me and my challenge:

  • I can print all the parts for this Robot arm.
  • Buy electronics
  • Available instruction

Firstly I’ve printed all the parts in my printer. I used PETg filament for my 3d print parts. I like this plastic for 3d printing. It is a very strong and solid filament to mechanical fissure and of course easy to use like a PLA.

I will not share my Slicer (CURA) setting — it is not our goal in this story. You have to use your PLA setting — just fix the correct temperature and retraction and all.

Next… I’m gonna go to my local metal store to buy screws and nuts. It needs to assemble all mechanic parts and electronics.

It was the first part of my story. The next story of the part will collect all the mechanic details.

Thanks for reading.
